Leader Efficiency Questionnaire - Leadership Development Training

How effective are you as a leader?  This questionnaire will help to give you a rating on your leadership abilitites and how leadership development training can benefit you.  No-one is perfect and there are always ways that we can improve.  This questionnaire will help you to understand areas that you can improve in and you can find tools on this website to help you to become a more effective leader.  So give yourself an honest rating for each of these areas with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest (in the positive).  Grab a pen and paper and rate yourself out of 10 for each of these questions.

  1. Are you working effectively in your role?
  2. Do you understand the characteristics of being an effective leader?
  3. How well do you manage your stress?
  4. Do you communicate effectively?
  5. Do you listen effectively and ask questions of employees?
  6. How effective are your working relationships in your organisation?
  7. Do you understand the element of effective working relationships?
  8. Do you understand the personality traits of your employees?
  9. Do you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your employees?
  10. Rate the culture and morale of your organisation.

Add up all your scores.  How well did you do?

80-100 Your leadership skills are excellent.  Every organisation should have managers like you.  But really think about your answers that you gave, would a trusted Manager or Employee rate you the same way.  Well now is the time to find out!  If they gave you a similiar rating, then you are an excellent manager.  There may be a few areas that you can improve in, but overall your management skills are great.

50-79 Your leadership skills could do with some improvement.  Think about the areas that you have not done well in and check this website for interesting articles and tools that can help you to improve your abilities.  You may even want to consider a leadership program or obtaining some management qualifications.  This will also give you an opportunity to talk to other managers as they probably have similar challenges to yourself.

1-49 Your management efficiency is below standard.  Are you in a role that is suitable for your abilities or do you feel that you are out of your depth?  Can you engage a mentor to help you to improve?  Have you just started in this role and is there support or training programs available to you?  You can download some interesting articles and tools on this website to assist you to become a better manager.
